Tamarind covered apples are a popular sweet treat that combines the crisp freshness of apples with the bold sweet, tangy and spicy flavours of tamarind candy.
often found at fairs, markets and candy shops across Mexico, they are lived for their fun mix of fruity, spicy and chewy textures in every bite.
Directions:
- Wash and dry the apples. Insert a wooden stick into each apple.
- In a pot, over low heat, combine the Palebolas, sugar, water and Chamoy. Stir until thick and smooth.
- Let the mixture cool slightly until it becomes sticky but still easy to spread.
- Cover each apple with the tamarind mixture using a spoon or clean hands.
- Sprinkle with the Tajin.
- Place the apples on parchment paper and let them set for about 20 – 30 minutes.
